When we think of common excuses people make for not working out, many complain that they don’t have time to make it to the gym. And considering our busy lives, this comes as no surprise. Packing a gym bag, making the trek out to the gym, changing and showering all takes a considerable amount of time.
Fortunately, there are several apps available online that can help you get a workout right in the comfort of your home. Most of these are less expensive than a gym membership and they are available on your phone, TV, device or web browser. They eliminate travel time and let you exercise on your own schedule.
If you are looking for a workout app that suits your lifestyle, here are a few we recommend.
Daily Burn
Daily Burn provides live fitness videos every day at 9 AM EST. If you miss that window, you can watch the recorded version later in the day or choose to work out along with any of the other videos they have available.
Their workouts include everything from Pilates to kickboxing to HIIT. They even have pregnancy and postpartum workouts.
The app has a 30 day free trial and then you can sign on for $19.99 a month. They also have a standalone Yoga membership for $9.99 a month, a Running app for $7.99 a month and an HIIT membership for $12.99 a month.
Peloton
There are two ways to access Peloton’s workout programs. If you buy Peloton equipment, like their bikes and treadmills, you can get the app free. You can also subscribe to the app outright for $13 a month.
Peloton has a thirty day free trial and then you can sign on for a program that includes bootcamp, strength training, yoga, running and cycling with and without equipment. They also have an audio only program for runners.
The app has live-streamed classes every day and you can also use their on-demand option. The classes have training plans so you know what to expect before you sign up.
Neou
The Neou app gives you unlimited access to live and on demand workouts. They have a fitness library that includes more than 60 types of workouts including dance, kickboxing, postpartum, yoga, running and more. You can stream their programs on any TV, tablet, computer or smart phone.
Neou offers both annual and monthly memberships as well as a thirty day free trial. Annual memberships are $99.99 but they are being offered at $49.99 for new users. Monthly memberships are $14.99.
Yoga Glo
If yoga is your bag, you can’t go wrong with the Yoga Glo app. It is one of the most popular yoga subscriptions on the market and it has a network of teachers that are skilled in providing yoga, Pilates and meditation classes. There are over 80 programs designed to improve your poses and guide your progress.
The classes explore a wide variety of yoga styles including hatha, yin, vinyasa, Iyengar and more and they are suited to all levels from beginner to expert. In addition to yoga, they also have classes that focus on increasing core strength, high intensity conditioning, toning and cardio.
Yoga Glo offers a 15 day free trial. After that, subscriptions are $18 a month.
